It puts bitcoin's settlement rate in the same unit payment networks are usually compared in.
How it is built
Daily transaction count divided by the seconds in a day. It is an average, so it flattens the bursty reality of block-by-block arrival.
What to watch
The honest reading is that this number is small and deliberately so: block space is the scarce resource that makes the fee market work. Its ceiling is a design choice, not a failure, and the metric matters mainly as the denominator when judging whether second-layer capacity is actually absorbing demand.
