The Long-Term Holder Sell-Side Risk Ratio measures the total realized profit and loss of long-term holders relative to the size of their held wealth (realized cap).
Why it matters
It gauges how significant long-term holders' spending is compared to the value they store, signalling whether an equilibrium has been reached.
How it is built
The absolute realized profit plus realized loss of long-term holders is divided by their realized cap, producing a normalized activity ratio.
What to watch
Very low readings mean holders are dormant and the market has found equilibrium — typical of accumulation — while high readings mean large profit-taking, a sign of an active, potentially topping market.
