Realised SOPR SOPR

Bitcoin

Spent Output Profit Ratio (SOPR) measures the aggregate realized profit or loss of coins moved on-chain, expressed as their sale value divided by their acquisition value.

Why it matters

It reveals whether the market as a whole is spending coins at a profit (SOPR above 1) or realizing losses (below 1), a direct read on holder profitability behaviour.

How it is built

For every spent output, its USD value at the moment of spending is divided by its value when it was created; SOPR aggregates these ratios across all coins moved in the period.

What to watch

The 1.0 breakeven line is pivotal: it tends to act as support during bull markets, where holders refuse to sell at a loss, and as resistance during bear markets. Sustained crosses flag shifts in market sentiment.
