DEFI TVL TVL Wbtc Minted and Burned
DeFi
The daily count or volume of Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) tokens created (minted) when Bitcoin is deposited, and destroyed (burned) when it is redeemed back to native Bitcoin Shown here for Wintermute.
Why it matters
To track the flow of Bitcoin value moving into and out of its wrapped, Ethereum-compatible form.
How it is built
Recording each WBTC mint transaction, which occurs when a custodian issues new WBTC against deposited Bitcoin, and each burn transaction, which occurs when WBTC is redeemed and destroyed.
What to watch
Mints exceeding burns shows growing net demand for Bitcoin's DeFi utility on Ethereum, while burns exceeding mints indicates capital rotating back out to native Bitcoin.
